The UK electricity grid is facing a huge challenge as part of our ambition for zero carbon by 2050. To achieve our targets we need to increase the amount of renewable generation and replace fossil fuel based power stations.

?

However, the dramatic increase in wind, tidal, wave and solar generation comes with the challenge of intermittency (the wind doesn’t always blow and the sun doesn’t always shine) but which large scale energy storage capacity can solve. By storing energy when generated (but perhaps when demand is low) and releasing it again in periods of high demand, the grid can be better balanced between supply and demand.

In addition, energy storage can help our grid control frequency, important in keeping the network operational.

EOS is actively looking for sites where large-scale energy storage could be developed.

If you own land near a major substation or industrial land that used to have heavy industry located on it, then EOS would be interested in talking with you about a Lease.

EOS will fund all development work including the submission of a planning application and a grid application.
